My SuperCruise has been working fine, there are a couple of areas where it always drops due to no road info, but those areas are consistent. I even use it most of the way to the lake where I take my boat. I did get a bunch of module updates in December, 2 weeks after getting my truck and having it in to fix the front locker. I have a 23 ED1 SUT.

I had one case where it could not see my face, and a few other occurrences where it posted it coudl not find the lane lines, those were while driving into the sun. My Rivian and Mach E both have those same issues when driving directly into the sun.

Picking up my SUV tomorrow and was searching for info on how long supercruise is included and found this.

I've had supercruise on my Cadillac CT6 for 4 years and have been all over the country with supercruise. My wife has had supercruise in her Cadillac for 2 years with no issues. Works perfect in the cadillacs, so it sounds like its a GMC issue. There are times where I went hours without touching the wheel on trips.

I use it everyday in traffic.

Now, mine is the old version that doesn't work on as many roads as the new system and doesn't offer lane change.

For those coming from other forms of adaptive cruise / self driving options:

One thing we don't know when someone says that SuperCruise works great; is great compared to what? If it works great compared to nothing, for me it is worthless and i would not pay for it nor renew a subscription to keep it functional in 3 years. That is just my opinion.

To the best i can figure out it is akin to adaptive cruise control with lane keeping assist that can automatically pass slower moving cars IF you are on a highway pre-designated by GM with multiple lanes going in your direction. That is when it is working well.

SuperCruise does not work as well as even adaptive cruise control with lane assist, that i have had in Audi's for many years and cost much less. That system works on far more roads which don't have to be designated by the manufacturer and does not rely on cell service. It is even aware of expected turns if you use your navigation. I used that system in everyday traffic, on the interstate, on county roads and country roads. There are roads that it will not work on but the mileage of roads those systems work on are multiples of those that SuperCruise works on.

If SuperCruise works great compared to previous versions of SuperCruise, I assume that's true, I have only had it on the Hummer SUV.

SuperCruise MIGHT stay engaged IF you are on a specific highway and IF you don't have to exit. It gives up if there are intersections [not talking about exits, though that happens occaissionally too] even if those intersections do not require a reduction in speed. it gives up if you lose cell service. It gives up.

Just to be sure, i have had mine in to the dealer who says that it is working as expected and that i should expect that on any trip even on the interstate, that it will cut out from time to time. I wish that was all that it cut out.

On another note, SuperCruise is not free; no more so than the doors or the steering wheel. SuperCruise along with the 3 year remote access plan, is included in the base cost of the vehicle for which you have no choice to purchase unless you choose not to purchase the vehicle.

I drove NY to southern Florida with supercruise working 99+% of the time in my 24 GMC SUV. Couldn't have done the trip without it. My only complaint was with charging. This was before we got access to the Tesla chargers. I took a 400+ mile trip in Florida last week and used Tesla chargers and it was great

It sounds ds to me like it's not worth the extra subscription price.
It's free for 8 years in GM EV's, so the subscription price is a moot point.

Works flawlessly for me here in Canada but, several things that need to happen for it to work, you must be registered with OnStar, the roads must be mapped in Google maps, OnStar (cell reception) must be working, GPS must be working...and it does not work on exit or entrance ramps, also doesn't work over 85 mph.

hi, just bought a hummer EV and my supercruise works very intermittently. not sure if this is a car issue or GMC issue.
I’ve noticed with my Hummer supercruise doesn’t fuction well if roads are poorly marked or if the 2 outside cameras under the door mirrors aren’t clean. Other than that, my super cruise has worked well. I’ve had it rolling on a few long distance trips on 85 for about 25-30 straight miles without having to intervene.

Yup... Normal for this "award winning" feature... Mine cuts out when I wear my Ray-Bans... But not if I'm wearing my Maui Jim's... Also cuts out in sunlight from certain angles. Works well at night when I'm not wearing sunglasses and there's no sun.

Great concept, patheticly horrible execution.

It will only cut out if the sun is directly in site of the camera. So that's usually at particular times of day.

I've added a Verizon 5G UW Hotspot to my truck and it has made a world of difference. Example tonight I was driving in Nashville and SuperCruise just wouldn't work and kept getting a message that there was no road information on I24 & I65. I noticed my hotspot was off. I turned it on, connected it to the truck, and SuperCruise started working immediately. I disconnected it from the hotspot as a test and it went back to saying there was no road information. Reconnected it again and worked just fine. 4G & ATT just don't cut it. ATT is headquartered in Nashville, so you'd think the service would be great, but NO WAY!!

I connect mine to my iPhones ATT hotspot, works without issue. That tells me it’s the vehicles connection, not necessarily the provider.

Is one pair polarized and the other not? iX will not work with polarized lenses. Haven't tested the Hummer yet but my glasses I wear driving do not have polarized lenses.

Mine has worked great and only issue came after the last update the other day. I wish I could remember the error message for certain. Can't remember if it said "unavailable" or not. On a short trip where I have used it before it would not work on the way there. I would press the button, wait a bit and press again, never worked. On the return trip same thing but then I just kept pushing the button over and over, no wait, then it kicked in. Since then, no issues. I love SuperCruise. However, the BMW iX crushes it. It will work on any lined road anywhere. It doesn't rely on a mapped anything. It is smoother keeping the vehicle between the lines also. That said, I am still very happy with SuperCruise.
