Got a notice in my EVGO app today about a 10% discount for GM drivers, also session fees are waved. This was promised a long time ago.

Unfortunately, it appears the discount will not apply at the PFJ sites.

Not sure where you live but in CA, NV, OR, UT and ID, EVGO is MUCH more expensive. I think the community would appreciate if you could give more specifics when making statements such as “they are cheaper near my house.” I’m happy give specific city/state locations where I’ve found your statements to be absolutely untrue.

I've joined both the EA and Tesla membership programs for a 1700 mile trip to CA. The savings for a single charge more than paid for the monthly fee. Membership can either be canceled or suspended so it totally makes sense to join for anyone expecting to need access to EA/Tesla chargers for an extended trip.

HOPEFULLY, no one pays the non member price at EA, Tesla, EVGO, etc. It makes no sense. I did meet one gentleman at an EA charger who was charging at list price. I told him about the member discount and the ability to cancel it when his trip was done. He had no idea this was possible and had been paying the ridiculously supercharge rate on multiple previous long distance trips, and his current one.

Saying EVGO, at list price, is the same as alternatives is a joke. I was shocked that a moderator of this forum claimed that EVGO was the cheapest in his area. I called him/her out on their statement. IMHO, that's not right as the statement was EXTREMELY misleading.

EVGO/GM offers a 10 or 15% discount for joining their program. EA and Tesla superchargers discount were 28% for joining for the duration of my trip. Based on my experience, EVGO's 10-15% discount is a TOTAL joke. It reminds me of GMC's pricing for home EV chargers which are WAY, WAY higher than Grizzl-e and others for the same or better performance.

Not sure why you keep saying this, it depends a lot on location. Pilot locations are generally more than most EVGO sites, because they set the rates, not GM or EVGO. We have ten GM/EVGO sites in the Phoenix area and one in Tucson, they are on par with Tesla and EA for price. I have had memberships at EA and Tesla for a couple of years, since I have 3 EVs and use them at least once a month. I do not like using Tesla with the Hummer because they are so slow, but they work fine for my Mach E and just OK for my Rivian, which are slower charging vehicles that do not support 800V.

I TOTALLY agree!!! I live in ID so our rates are $0.11 on average so even charging at a Tesla or EA charger at the $0.48 membership discount rate makes no sense. My HEV is my first and I was really shocked with EA supercharger rates between CA and NV. NV's residential rates are much lower than CA but EA list price and membership discounted rates were the same in both CA and NV. I have no idea why, but my first thought was NV supercharger users are being screwed. EA and EVGO list price, i.e., non member prices were also the same in CA, NV and ID...even though based rates are wildly different...CA rates being 2-3 higher than NV and ID.

For long distance trips, memberships fees are totally worth it. The fact that you can suspend or cancel membership once the trip is over makes it even better. That said, EA requires you to preload your account with purchase credits vs charging your card which caused me to end up with a $32 credit on my previous trip. As I understand it, if I cancel my membership after the trip is done then i also lose my $32 credit. That s_cks!!!.

IMHO, EV owners are exposed to a wild, wild west version of exploitation when it comes to public supercharger companies. Again, IMHO, EV owners are vulnerable to the whims of Silicon Valley venture capitalists vs traditional gas/diesel companies.

This belief is the major reason why i push back on other posters to post facts vs generalizatons. IMHO, EV fueling start ups are being pressured by their VC backers to maximize profitability while they can, at EV owners expense. Again, based on my own opnion.

Also, I find your comment that Tesla Superchargers being "slow" is another generalization. The best rate I've ever experienced was an EVGO charger, 326kw, but that was only for 5 mins. It then dropped to 250 kw range for another 10 mins and then to the 150-170 kw range for another 10 mins. By the time i got to 80%, it was around 60kw. Tesla supercharges start in the 150-160 range throughout the cycle, dropping to the low 100s. I'm not a Tesla fan boy but I also recognize that over the course of a 20% to 80% charge, vs EA and EVGO, the wait time difference is minimal.
