Hey Boss, GM is starting the week with several minor EV announcements, and therefore my confidence is increasing that this week or next we will hear from GM. Please keep us in the loop?
My best guess is next week at the moment. Internally we just got the message to be setup and ready for Lyriq reservations. Thats whats cooking currently.

Yes, Lyriq reservations should start in September. What is your feeling at the dealership, will Lyriq attract a lot of attention? I think its a good looker...

Hands down it will. I honestly believe we have had more walk in traffic asking about "that new electric Cadillac" than the Hummer. I'm really interested to see the reservation count for those when it starts.

Wow, great. That is good to hear. It would not be too hard for Lyriq to become Cadillac's biggest seller in the USA, It looks like Cadillac does not have a 50K a year model in the USA, so if Lyriq can do 50-75K a year that would be awesome.

Do you mind if I ask what you do at the dealership? Are you in sales or management?

I really hope they can ramp production up to that number. From my chevy bolt days if they can come out with a strong lease program that make it a no brainer to lease they will succeed. Some of our biggest conversions came from hesitant clients not wanting to make the jump but only being on the hook for 3 years and a crazy affordable lease payment they would switch to a Bolt even if they came in looking for any of the gas cars.

I am in sales, but have more responsibility than others at the dealership. I take all the extra courses to be the certified tech expert and the EV sales specialist.

Oh nice, and you do not seem like a typical salesman (meant to be a compliment). Sounds like you know how to push EV's?

Ya, I think GM is planning for 50K + production of the Lyriq, as they are setting up a body shop specific for the Lyriq, and not using the existing Spring Hill body or paint shops. I think the Lyriq could do well in some GM markets that have been quiet, but ya, it will need to have creative financing. I hope they do a V model too, and maybe even a blackwing.

I really appreciate that. I try my best to set myself apart from others. Yes I can push EVs very well. I honestly think having an EV myself helps a ton. I'm not just spewing info I read. I always went out of my way to teach what I had learned from driving the car everyday and what I saw helped or hurt range and other areas the most.

I see them going down the road of sport or platinum luxury options. Seems to fit the persona of the Lyriq better. I'm pretty sure the V and blackwing trims will be exclusive to the sedans.

That is great. absolutely, owning an EV is the best thing anybody that sells or services EV's can do. It will give you reserve knowledge that someone who has not owned an EV just does not have.

Ya, fair point on the Lyriq, although I hear an Escalade V is in the works with a Supercharged 6.2L, I think we will hear something about that later this year.

Count me in on the Escalade EV. My wife loves her 2021 Escalade ESV, but 13mpg…. Ugggg.

Escalade EV is definitely coming, I am not sure when GM will show it publicly? Many media and analysts saw it a year ago. GM might show it this year, but they have so many other vehicles to unveil, so not sure when it will be, possibly at the EV investor days in October. Hopefully will start production next year, maybe a 23 model.

Predictions for hearing something tomorrow or anytime before the end of the month?
I am still optimistic for tomorrow, 35-40% chance Next Thursday over 50% (earnings week)

@Aloppen do you have anything to share with us yet?

Al must see his notifications from us, and just giggle... we are all wound up into a froth whether we will be able to firm orders this week or next...

I'm not showing any updates in our order system today. I have been watching the order reference guide also as sometimes that adds more info without a formal update notice to us. I'm dying to see when they add the trailering specs and the rest of the features.

Hey John, thanks for the update. As I think about this, there are so many specs we do not know, and we have not even seen the production version yet. I wonder if GM is going to do some presentation, and unveil the important specs before we get the call to order?

Would people order without knowing EPA range and safety ratings?
Would people order without knowing EPA range and safety ratings?
Of course, I will order at the earliest opportunity. Hummer EV likely will not be crash tested outside of GM, not high enough production for NTSHA to require it. GM has their own crash lab at Milford, they will make sure it meets all government requirements.

As for EPA rating, I expect it will be quite close to the 350, remember GM can adjust the max charge allowed to change the battery capacity.

I am really not worried about safety rating driving a 9000+ pound truck with modern safety features.
The 9000lbs is a negative when it comes to crashing into something solid, as all that energy has to be absorbed somewhere in the structure. I wonder if GM will show us pictures and videos of the crash testing? @Aloppen ? One thing I am certain of with the Hummer EV is the area under the passenger compartment is the strongest GM pickup ever built, I can just look at that structure and it is BEEFY, WOW!! How the front absorbs the crash energy though would be interesting to see as that is a lot of energy.
