Who will be First to get "the Call?"

I think we are now within days (possibly even hours) of GMC reaching out to firm up our First Edition SUT orders. How do you all think it will go down? Email from GMC? Email or call from the dealer?

Back in April, my dealer said to expect an email from GMC sometime in the summer. I hope we hear soon like you predict, Tom! :)

I wonder what the method to the madness will be on who gets contacted first. Is it going to be in order of who signed up first, certain number per each geographical area to help drive hype, or maybe something else entirely.

I wasn’t able to draw any conclusions on where I am in order based on my Edition 1 reservation number. I am sure that is intentional.

Same here, I have no Idea if I am first or last of the first editions, I guess that is half the fun... My guess is GMC is going to email all the first edition reservation holders, and tell us to contact our dealer, but @BigJonEV will likely be the first to know since he is at a dealership, sir, you must keep us in the loop when word comes down?

Me too. My dealer said it is likely there will be a lot of cancellations, based on past experience with first edition corvettes.
We have a list populated from GM in the order they received the reservations from GMC.com. That is how we are moving through our clients. As far as order cycles go every Thursday is when they open up allocations and constraints for vehicles. This is when we place all of our new orders. We have until that following Monday to make any last edits or changes. I have been checking every Thursday religiously for an update on our order system. Who knows maybe tomorrow will be the day it shows the Hummer.

Interesting, not to dig too deep into proprietary info, but how long is your 1st Edition list? no need to be exact, but approx range? 1-10, 10-20, 20-50? What is your dealership planning to do to firm the orders? Online configuration or customer have to go to the dealership? Increased deposits?

My dealer told me they expect only a few 1st Editions.

If allocations are assigned on Thursdays, I expect 10% chance this Thursday (tomorrow), 25% chance next Thursday.

We are in the 10 to 20 range for 1st Editions with several 3X waiting list clients. We are under the assumption that we should get what we have reserved, but more than likely nothing else. Since GM was in control of the reservation process that would only make sense. They know how many they are building total and based off reservations how many allocations to give each dealer.

Wow, that 10-20 is more then I expected... Would be fun to know the total reservation number, speculation between 2500- 10K.

Realistically with the Edition 1 SUT showing no available options the ordering for that should be straightforward. The SUV has the optional Off road package, but the truck looks like it is what it is, unless someone were to order accessories for it. It's going to really boil down to who is still ready to order one and who isn't.

I will now look forward to every Thursday until I get the call/email, whatever. I currently feel like an 8 yr old waiting to open Christmas presents. lol

I talked to my dealership yesterday — no new info from GMC yet. They figure they will get all the official info before the first allocations open, but who knows. They said they have quite a few 1st Edition orders and I’m second of the EV3X orders. So I guess if two people ahead of me step aside I might be able to get a 1st Edition, but they can’t confirm it will work that way. Lots of unknowns at the moment as we all just anxiously wait and see. They will have a 1st Edition of their own for the showroom and demos that they can sell at a later date, but it’s already spoken for. Once again, a guess as to when they will receive it. And almost certain that I’ll have to submit my order before I‘ll be able to get my hands on their demo truck.

I keep hoping GM will host a couple more events like they did in Texas to let people get a hands on. I know those were the reveal trucks and not the full real thing, hoping they start touring some of the production qualifiers and get some good media coverage, ride-alongs and real customers get to experience it.

Just got off the phone with West Point GMC here in houston still no updates on my Edition 1 SUT order but did talk to the manager she told me they expect to be taking official orders by the end of the month and at that point the dealer will contact me not GMC directly and I’ll prop have to put a $1k deposit. I replied to her and said I’m willing to pay off the whole thing now if that makes me get it quicker lol

I think we are inside the window of first contact from GMC, but when it comes is anyones guess. I think GM has a few hurdles they want to check off before they make the formal communication to customers. My speculation is that they want to get the first few production intent Hummer Ev's built to show off, and generate excitement before they "go to market" for real, there may also still be technical, engineering, or supply chain hurdles that need to be cleared before GM feels comfortable they will be on time. This is why I assumed this week was a long shot, and each week going forward increases the odds. We know the first production intent body in white was completed a couple weeks ago, and I would guess that takes a week to get through paint, and a week to get through assembly. Things go slow on the first few as they are figuring things out, dialing in the processes and procedures. I do think initial customers will hear something in July, or at the latest early August (barring delays). My wildest speculation is that GM will do their Hummer Ev media events in late August, to early September, likely embargoed until the start of the Texas State Fair, when the Hummer EV will make its formal debut to the public, deliveries to customers will start in October.

HAHA, Ya, I thought of that too, offer cash up front.... Actually you know though, the dealer would rather you finance it, it gives them another opportunity for profit...

Thank you for pointing that out. Hahaha. The days of cash offers trumping others is long gone. Back when dealers could pull whatever they wanted cash was king because it could be hidden away. Clearly that's not how any new franchise dealer operates nowadays.

Also the order guide was not updated today. Nothing new showing to order for a 2022 model.

It has to be close. I would think they want to start to get solid orders in the system even if the production date is a ways out.
