This sounds like an ICE design defect to me, only tangentially battery related.German daily Bild cited the KBA regulator as saying "inadequate fastening of the engine design cover can lead to contact with hot parts and subsequently to fire"

That makes sense, Hybrids have more parts to malfunction, and all of the worst parts of both systemsI saw an article a while ago that stated hybrids had a higher fire rate then BEV or ICE.
