Really strange that they had a wait-list going if that's the case.
I think the concierge had it wrong. There was a poster on here recently who walked away because of a mark up only to have the dealership change its tune and honor MSRP. That similarly led me to believe that the dealership knew it would lose the truck entirely if the customer refused to verify. It is also funny, because I was going to go by the dealership and talk to them today and they actually called me. He said they have no markup on vehicles that are ordered like the Hummer. But, he was encouraging me to come verify the SUV. It was almost like he knew if I didn't verify he wasn't going to get it. He also told me that he thought my 3x truck would probably not be there until late 2024. And I had just spoken with the concierge not 30 minutes prior and she said it would be spring 2024. So I don't really know what to believe
I suspect this is part of the reason the confirmation process changed. The dealer had to submit my order when I was confirming my truck but now the end-buyer can do it on their own.I think the concierge had it wrong. FWIW I don’t think anyone has a great idea of timing and the dealership is probably guessing/assuming further delay based on how things have gone to date.
Do you mean you think they changed it to allow the buyer to have more control over the process / the ability to decline verification? I could see that being somewhat beneficial for buyers in avoiding mark-ups if the dealer could lose the sale at the click of a button as opposed to having to click the button on the buyer's behalf, which would require a discussion. However I think the reality is those dealers who are charging mark ups are counting on most of us not being quick to walk away after waiting 2+ years, regardless of who controls the process. It just seems like a fundamental flaw in the reservation process if dealers are not required to honor MSRP but the buyer is required to buy from a specific dealer.I suspect this is part of the reason the confirmation process changed. Seems like at the very least the customer has a few months to hold things up. If, as the concierge suggested, the truck goes to the dealer regardless of verification, then all of this is moot because we all have zero negotiating power if a dealer wants to charge a mark-up. I find it hard to believe that this is correct though.
Depending on how much of a markup Honolulu GMC will try to pull off, I’ll just pass and take my Silverado EV RST instead, even though it’s got a more expensive MSRPI just spoke with the Concierge about verification process for the 1st Edition SUV and I asked if I passed on the reservation if it went to the next person in line nation wide who was "wait listed" or if it went to my dealer and it was theirs to sell to whoever they wanted... I was curious, because I haven't spoken with them about Mark Ups yet... Or not to the Sales Manager.... I was thinking (I think that I read here) that it would go back to GMC to re-allocate to the next person in line... So, I thought that I may have a little bargaining power IF they said that they were going to mark it up... That I could walk away and they wouldn't get the truck and it would go to a lucky person who was wait listed... BUT the concierge told me otherwise... If I don't verify, the dealership still get the truck... I am going to go and speak with the Sales Manager today and see what he says... For What It's Worth, they still have a used SUT that they were trying to sell to me for $190,000... It's still in the same spot in the showroom and that it was several months ago now they are asking $180,000....

Glad to hear you don’t have a mark up🥳
Glad to hear you don’t have a mark up🥳
Hello, new here. I too got the email that states I have 3 weeks to get the order in and of-course my dealer is being greedy. I have been trying to get to the dealer owner but in my case the dealer is owned by a national group. Because of my location ( Hawaii) there are no other options except for going to the mainland…which I of course happy to do. Does anyone have a honest dealer on the west coast that honors MSRP, Oregon would be preferable? Thanks.Glad to hear you don’t have a mark up🥳
