Propulsion on the Ultium platform will be provided by 5 interchangeable drive units and 3 electric motors. Looks like they will utilize single speed transmissions. I think this further increases the scalability of the platform for different models.

They've got all their bases covered. There's motors for FWD, RWD or AWD combinations.

The GM Ultium Drive family covers front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive propulsion combinations, including high-performance and off-road capabilities.

All five drive units are expected to be powered by one or more of three motors including a primary front-wheel drive motor, which can be configured for front- or rear-wheel drive, and an all-wheel drive assist motor.

GM will save on vehicle design and production costs by developing Ultium Drive alongside its next generation of EVs, leveraging internal expertise to improve efficiency and fit drive units and motors into future vehicles.

How come? A lot of crates for ev conversion already exist :) I think their whole idea is to do new things that make sense for EV skateboards
I hope they make a crate LT1 V8 for this platform lol, that's be ecstasy for me. But at this point, I'll take the 1,000 combined hp electric motors!

This would be a lot of fun for GM to do. I'm tired of most EV swaps being Tesla motors.
