GM has filed a trademark to give the electric Hummer and brand new logo. It's been filed in both the US and Canada

As of this writing, The General has filed three trademark applications – two with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and another with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO). One of the U.S. filings and the Canadian filing, both filed on February 4th, 2020, are for the stylized Hummer logo, as follows:

Meanwhile, the second U.S. application is simply for the Hummer name (in letters/characters). This one was filed on February 7th, 2020.

Coincidentally, not one of the three filings is combined with the GMC brand, which will become the new Hummer’s parent brand, thereby transitioning Hummer vehicles from a standalone brand into being GMC models.

Nevertheless, these three filings bring us one step closer to seeing the upcoming GMC Hummer EV. The General will reveal the vehicle on May 20th, 2020 and the first units will begin to arrive at dealers in the fall of 2021.

I really like the new logo. Personally, I was afraid they were going to screw it up when they redid it, because let's face it, for better or worse, the old Hummer logo was iconic (I used to love those old "Like Nothing Else" commercials!). This new logo captures the essence of the old, but modernizes it without losing that classic look. Really nice job, GM. And thanks for posting, @Oakwood!

It's a nice a simple change to it, they would've lost a lot of brand power if they completely changed it. One company that went overboard was Mini with their new logo for the electric Cooper. it doesn't look good at all.
