Jump to Latest

Tesla is making an announcement tonight, Thursday, April 7, at 9 p.m. Central Time (10:00 PM eastern) from its Giga Texas factory. They're calling it the "Cyber Rodeo".

Among other things it looks like the Cybertruck will be part of the presentation.

agree, rehash of all existing news. Nothing new there along with a few promises for CT/Semi/Roadster production in 2023 (keep pushing out).

Mainly just an opening party.

A lot of money spent for really nothing, A chance for Elon to recharge his fan base... and cover the fact the Shanghai factors has been down for more then a week, Fremont is also down right now, I think they are having parts shortages, and possibly the China recall today has teeth... Speculation...

Yeah, loved all the insane cheering for stuff he has just repeated like 10 times now and mostly all future promises. Plus, insane cheering for a structural battery pack/etc? I've had 4 Teslas and even I've lost my excitement for that brand. Their quality stinks, service stinks, communication stinks, and most of what they've implemented kinda stinks half the time - their software isn't that great now, most features don't really operate as promised, and many don't operate correctly at all. Autopilot has gotten worse IMHO, and our Ford does a better job on road trips with less scary "kill you" episodes for sure.

Will be selling our 2022 Model S.

I like my Tesla Y in so many ways, but its not perfect. I rarely use AP, but if I had a complaint its that the steering is too tight, (hard to keep straight on the freeway) suspension too harsh (I do not mind stiff, but the Model Y is harsh) and it feels cheap inside. As for the build quality mine has been OK, had a dozen or so assembly defects, but Tesla fixed those and besides the occasional nuisance error message that clears itself, its been reliable and fun to drive around town. It's also incredibly efficient.

I’ve had 2 tesla vehicles (model 3, Model S Plaid) I don’t like tesla. After the plaid I vowed not to buy a Tesla again. But I’m gonna own the cyber truck I put my order in the first second they went up so hopefully I will have an early delivery. I’ll buy it regret it and get rid of it and say that’s my last Tesla and then there’s the roadster

It may be a while before you own cyber truck. Doubt they will have any major production in 2023, and will see a huge price increase.

Yea who knows when you will actually see them on the streets. I imagine price for a top of the line quad motor is going to be $100k that’s the one I will have. I do like the roadster but after the plaid it really made me realize that there is such a thing of too much speed.

I think the 4 motor Cyber with 500 mile range will be closer to $150K, and in limited production

Wow....... was that the most awkward, uneventful Tesla presentation ever? Elon should fire his entire marketing team, as that was just awful!.

Well, just do math, Tesla sells Plaid for $140K it has half the battery, half the chassis, half the tire cost, half the brake cost, Stainless steel and bulletproof glass are expensive.

This video someone took of the Cybertruck from Texas doesn't help them out at all lol. Some of the parts look slapped together.

Clearly... Cybertruck is going to be hard to get to production, for those that have experience in Stainless steel and TIG welding, its way more complicated than Elon has led on... When you weld metal it moves, and to get long seam welds not to move is hard, and slow.. Talk a look at Elon's starship up close, see the wrinkles, thats from welding heat stress. Friction stir welding (less heat) on stainless is also very very slow and expensive, I see Cybertruck being a low production pet project unless they drastically change how it is made. All the gains by using the giga cast chassis sections are lost in the slow production body. Welding is definitely governed by physics, want to weld fast, more heat, more warpage, its just that simple.
