Random Issues with Super Cruise on Same Roads?

4427 Views 53 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Littleshopofguitars
Lately I’ve been encountering issues with Super Cruise sometimes not working at same place on the same tollways and freeways where it was working fine before even in perfect weather. Messages range from “Super Cruise Not Available” to “No Road Information”. Anyone else having these issues? Hummer EV Concierge recommended taking it in to dealer for diagnosis.

You may have a bad Map Module. When the replace the module make sure the also update all the components to the latest firmware.
Willing to have them do anything to fix it. Is there a diagnostic they can run to check if components are on the latest firmware? Although this dealer is a decently large one in a big city, I keep getting the feeling they don't necessarily know what they are doing with the Hummer as it is still relatively new to them.
The should get all the DTCs stored in the system and proceed based on the status.

You can also use the OnStar connection to get DTCs ask if there are any DTCs related to Super Cruise.

I like this route. What does DTC stand for so I don't sound dumb?

DTCs are Diagnostic Trouble Codes that the vehicle will store for diagnosis.

Okay. Thanks. I think they have ran that before and never have found any errors. I get the diagnostic report from OnStar and it's all fine. I can see if they can do it again.
Make sure you press the blue button when you know Super Cruise should be available and it is not working for you.

I will try that. I have normally done it while parked. The last diagnostic they did actually did have 4 error codes but they all said: ignore unknown DTC. Actually, now I'm seeing a lot of modules as failed to probe module. Some that seem like it would matter like HDL - High Definition Lidar Module or SDR - SIDE OBSTACLE DET. MOD.- RIGHT or SDL - SIDE OBSTACLE DET. MOD. - LEFT. All of those failed to probe module.

Is the code U3000?
Here are my modules and error codes.

CGM - Comm Gateway ModU1641
EXO - External Object Calculating Module HC2U1624
EXO - External Object Calculating Module HC2U1626
EXC - External Object Calculating Module HCU1624

There are 9 other modules that are failed to probe module.
While super cruise is cool as hell, I get too nervous using it, what happens when the jerk next to you drifts out of his lane, or while going around a turn it decides not to function properly! Super cruise adds stress to driving!
I had it on the other day while driving on the parkway and my wife and I jumped in the back seat for a quickie, and after a few minutes the truck was saying take control, I couldn’t get to the front seat fast enough and the truck came to a stop on the parkway! What’s up with that, super cruise sucks!
FYI: that was a joke 🤣😂
Seriously super cruise scares the crap out of me!
I'd disagree. For me, super cruise significantly reduces any stress of driving. Yes, you still have to pay attention, and yes it does disengage on occasion, but overall I feel it significantly reduces the required "human processing power" of driving. Was the first highway turn at 85mph scary? Absolutely... after that I've learned to trust it.

I hear you, however I'm a mechanical engineer, I know things fail, while I have faith in many computer aided devices I don't feel good putting my life on the line for such. Even if there is no mechanical or computer failure, you still have the "swerve out of their lane" drivers that can't be detected. I don't want to crash and ruin my Hummer!
In theory it is Excellent!

I think you might be using it wrong. You still have to pay attention and take over any time there is an issue like when people drift into your lane but it allows you to relax when that is not happening. Way more enjoyable than having to steer all the time in my opinion. FWIW, I'm also a mechanical engineer.

Thats funny, when I read your response, I said to myself I bet this guy is an engineer...lol!
I'm taking a trip up to Boston in two weeks, it's about 4 hours from me, I guess I'll really see if it actually helps.
Appreciate your input.
