Ordering charger. Plug question

I’m looking to order this Charge Point Home Flex for my Hummer because I’ve read some good things on here and on Facebook. I have an electrician that will be coming in the next few weeks to install but I know nothing about what plug I need. I just told the electrician that I need a 240V plug installed for an EV charger and I would provide my own charger. Should I be ordering the 6-50 or 14-50 plug?
I had the same charger installed and have nothing but good things to say about it. In terms of installation, I had mine hardwired, which I would recommend unless you intend to use the plug for other purposes as well. If you want the plug, I won't claim to be an expert but believe the 14-50 has some benefits over the 6-50, but it is also more expensive to install if you don't have the proper wiring already (it requires 3 wires instead of 2).
I would just hardwire it. Either of these connectors can be used, but by hardwiring it you avoid the plug as a failure point, and can run it with a 60amp breaker to get the full 48A output. If you use either of those plugs, you will be limited to a 50A breaker and 40A output.

If you are getting a plug, then I would get the 14-50, but make absolutely sure it is a commercial grade plug, not a cheap one.

Ok, I’ll order the 14-50 and then just talk with the electrician to discuss whether he wants to hardwire or do the plug

14-50 is more common for EVSEs, but people that had outlets for a welder often have 6-50 outlets installed already.

A 14-50 outlet will max out at 40 charging amps so if you going to plug a charger in then that's all ya need, on a 50amp breaker. But if ya hardwire and can do a larger breaker then you can go higher... I.e. 48amps charging with 60amp breaker etc. I have 14-50 outlets as kinda lets me choose chargers easier and a few hours a day usually tops me off again most days.

One of my ChargePoints is hardwired, the other is on a 6-50 plug, because I can also use that plug with my welder, on rare occasions. The one I hardwired came with a 14-50 plug. When you get the charger the plug is not even connected, you have to connect it up yourself, if you intend to plug it in. The J1772 cable also has to be manually connected after you unbox the charger.
I have two Clipper Creek HCS-60 chargers (48 amp). One, I hardwired and did the work myself with a 60A breaker and 6-guage wiring. I also installed a disconnect box, similar to an A/C disconnect. Almost too easy! The second, my electrician installed with a 6-50 plug. They both work the same and charge at the same rate. The only difference is with the 6-50, we had to purchase the plug and outlet; I could use that outlet for a welder, etc., if needed.

to code if you have a 60 AMP Breaker it has to be hard wired, you have to be very careful with that.
