MOONSHOT GREEN MATTE PAINT FINISH

I'm very concerned about the care needed for the Matte finish. I've used Griot's spray- on car wash and speed shine for a few years with great results. These products can't be used on Matte paint. I have rarely had to do a regular car wash not being a daily driver. PPF on the front half of my 911 has also made these two products very workable. I can avoid bad weather except on out of town trips. Hoping to hear lots of experiences with Matte Paint. I did get a slot for the Edition 1.

Not sure about the maintenance, but the color is beautiful.

Only question I have is... Can I get this color on the truck? As it’s been so far, their color info is vague. Seems to be a color option limited to Edition 1 of the SUV based on the wording on the reservation page.

I do not think you will see this color on anything else for a while. Matte paint is a pain for the manufacture as it cannot by fixed or touched up without changing the sheen. No buffing things out, or they get shiny.
Oh, for sure it will be a nightmare to do any paint repair on that color. I love what I’m seeing of this color on the SUV and think it would be amazing on the truck. In reality, I don’t know if I’d truly want it just for the reasons you have mentioned. It’s purdy, though...

They had several paint samples available at the reveal event showing color options for the truck and SUV, but I’m not having any luck finding specific pics or info for all of it. Just a couple quick shots and mentions. Don’t know if GM is restricting that info for now or if it’s just because access and time was so limited. A couple of these video intros are top notch, considering how little time each media attendee got with the SUV.

I think if you like the Matte, might be better to do a wrap... It is really purdy though. :)

I think the edition 1's do not have selectable colors. Its 1 limited edition package, not many options to choose.

Ya, I have not had a vehicle with Matte finish, but have heard its a pain in the arsenal to keep looking nice. You will have to get the EV3X model, I hope they have some nice colors for it, not just the typical GM colors!

They cannot be as bad as BMW new M3 colors. They are horrible.

So here’s the low-down on the colors. I’m getting this from someone who was there. They’re not a member of this forum, but are on the Hummer EV facebook group. Hope they will post some better pics of the color samples, but I don’t know what they have... A couple of the other videos out there show quick shots of the paint samples. Saw on the FB group someone posted a couple pics, but it would be nice to see better shots of each color.

Edition 1 truck and SUV can be ordered in any of the standard Hummer EV colors. This has been confirmed. The two exclusive Edition 1 colors are Lunar White Multicoat Metallic and and Moonshot Green Matte, introduced on the truck and SUV respectively. We don’t know if if those two exclusive colors will be available to cross between the truck and SUV. It looks like these two colors are exclusive to the Edition 1 launch of their respective vehicles and that’s it. There are also two more colors they are adding to the standard lineup that were not shown at the event, one of which is a metallic red that there was no sample for at the media event and the other is an unknown color to be announced later. These may not end up being the final color selection, lots can change between now and production, especially when talking about the SUV that’s nearly 2 years away from first deliveries.

Moonshot green is the only matte option. Black, Orange, White and Grey are all non-metallic. Blue, Red, Bronze/Brown and Lunar White (some GM people have referred to it as Ghost White) are all metallic. Specific color names and color codes were not shared beyond the names of the two Edition 1 special colors. GM has a Ghost White Pearlcoat in their color library that they have used on the Vette in the past. This may be the same color they’re showing on the Edition 1 pickup As the Lunar White.

Some colors may be late-availability for the truck, but all TBD once initial orders are submitted and production begins.

From the looks of it the moonshot green matte will be the only matte option. There's some screenshots of the colors here.

A very clear quote from chief engineer Oppenheiser Similarly, with the SUV, once the plant has batch-built the Edition 1 models in Moonshot Green Matte, GMC will open up the color scheme for the rest of the trim levels. "By first-quarter 2023 we will have our full color palette for both SUV and SUT," Oppenheiser confirmed.

@MojoMonkey Thats what I thought, it is all going to be batch built initially, but did not have an official confirmation from GM
