It's a Long Winter

Greetings,

I wanted to share a tiny bit of Intel while we all patiently wait for the Edition One's to be delivered. From Social Media & here, there are quite a few reservation holders who are eagerly waiting for some of the early reservations to be delivered. I am not sure where I stand in terms of delivery order for mine, but I have had it insinuated that mine is an early delivery (Winter 2022), but I have not been given my actual VIN or has my Dealer been invoiced.
While I was kind of expecting (it was the buzz) the Edition One to be delivered before Christmas, I did take advantage of the 25% off sale in December to get some additional accessories for mine, items I left off my order but decided I wanted. I went to the dealership yesterday to get these accessories & the parts guy brought out all the parts GMC has sent for the PDI, to be installed by the dealer before I take delivery...this was a good sign to me, but the parts guy said there were still a couple of parts they were waiting for. He said "module", not sure what else. After putting the PDI parts back on the shelf, he found my Accessory order & I picked it up
It stands to reason that we are not seeing deliveries due to supply issues with the dealer installed PDI parts. If this is the case...thank you GMC for holding onto my Edition One at the factory instead of shipping it to the dealership to sit and taunt me, not being able to pick it up, let alone being treared like a jungle gym at the dealership with everyone experiencing the "future" inside & out.
I am sure some real news will come our way at some point, it seems like it would be easier if GMC would speak directly to those reservations who are already validated, as they insinuated we would be informed as our reservations made it through production, but there is no record of this type of communication so far.
I am still excited & appreciative of my ability to own this new toy, waiting is hard, but it will be forgotten soon enough. Time is my friend if it insures quality, and being the launch of a new platform with new technologies, the lack of process & experience makes quality harder to achieve.

I had my dealership put zero accessories on my HEV order, so it's not that unfortunately.

There are many parts that are installed at the dealership during PDI even on an order with no options. It's how GM manges it's supply chain. Every new vehicle goes through the PDI (prep) process at the dealership before being offered for sale.
I have ordered a few GM vehicles & when the order moves to status 3400 parts are allocated to the build and organized at the factory. Items to be installed during the PDI are drop shipped from the suppliers to the dealerships at the same time.

That is a very good sign @Orclubduck . I would venture to say it won't be long before you see movement on your Hummer. We don't ever get parts too early or every parts department would be jam packed waiting on vehicles to arrive. Great news for you!! I will also say from my own personal experience this year the Parts world at GM knows more than the sales world.

I had a customer last February place a deposit on a truck with me. He was super excited to get it. I watched it the whole time and just kept saying delayed. I couldn't get any new update from GM when I called. I was calling almost every other day trying to get some sort of news. Then finally one day my Parts manager came to me and said there is an issue with your truck. Curious I ask how do you know that, you're in parts. The distribution center had called him saying they needed the PDI parts back for my VIN and we would not be getting that truck. We called in to our district manager and he had no idea. So we called the parts center back and apparently my truck had been in a railcar incident. It was damaged beyond repair and that truck just never made it to us. Luckily, I had a similar one coming so I still made the sale and my client was beyond gracious in waiting and being patient. It just blew me away that not one person on the sales side of GM knew anything about this or could let us know. We found out from the Parts guy.

So moral of the story trust the parts department and if he has your parts, I bet your Hummer is close.
