Good Luck, GMC set up the Hummer sales program to eliminate this (no markups or discounts). Dealers cannot assign the Hummer EV orders to 3rd parties. Do you have a reservation? If not, make one ASAP to get on the waiting list.If anyone has a change of heart on their Edition 1 reservation or has an extra reservation please contact me. Thank you.
Welcome to the forums, @Rip2tide2! Glad to have you here.Thanks. I am on the waiting list but a hair too late for the Edition 1. I appreciate the color. To that end if anyone wants to sell their actual vehicle once they get it give me a shout (individuals or resellers). I have a Rivian Launch edition reservation if someone with a Hummer would rather...
Yes, I agree, but for @Rip2tide2, I think you will likely get your name called if you are already on the waiting list. Having ordered lots of EV's in the past I think at least 50% of the reservation holders will not follow through with their purchase when it comes time to buy. Slapping a $100 charge on a credit card is different then coming up with $125K to buy one of these (sales tax incl).Welcome to the forums, @Rip2tide2! Glad to have you here.
Good luck on that reservation swap, or even buying one off others. The Edition One's are red hot right now, reservations were much more than GM expected.
To that end, if you don't mind waiting a bit longer, I think that you'd be best served going with the EV3X. You get almost everything you get with the Edition One, minus the 200 extra hp, the special color, and some other things equipped standard. And GM says the production of the Hummer variants have all been moved up...the EV3X was initially coming out in Fall 2022...I'm thinking Spring 2022 or even slightly earlier is now fully in the cards.
I agree with you, GM should have made the price of entry higher to reserve the limited edition Hummer EV, keep the tire kickers away. GM is naive about the excited EV crowd that put deposits on every EV, then decide if they want one later. LUCID had the right idea, make people put down some serious money to sort out the wannabes. People that can afford a $100k+ vehicle do not mind throwing in $2-5K deposit for a year. Thanks Tom and StillHummer. I agree - I think the EV3X is not a bad fallback and that is what I currently have reserved. That is good news on the timing because that was a big part of the appeal was to get it sooner rather than later. However, with better range and acceleration I would still go with the Edition 1 if possible.
I don't quite understand why Tesla Cybertruck/GM (maybe others) only require $100 to reserve it. If I am GM I would like to have a better assessment of how many I actually need to make unless they are just looking for the headline of "sold out in 10 minutes" which they can point Wall Street to.
Do you think the 200 extra HP on the Edition 1 is a hardware change, or all software? I personally think the 200HP, and WTF mode are all software, and likely can be purchased after delivery as long as you have the 3 motor truck. GM is going to be doing this software as a service model in the future where they can unlock additional features in your car for $$$ ala Tesla.Welcome to the forums, @Rip2tide2! Glad to have you here.

I'm with you Tom, I have to believe that it's all software. Both the Edition One and the EV3X come with 3 motors...the hardware appears to be the same for both. That makes me think that you're very right, that the 200 additional ponies and the WTF Mode are entirely capable of being added via software updates, without touching the mechanicals. The question is, will GM do it?Do you think the 200 extra HP on the Edition 1 is a hardware change, or all software? Ford and GM have been talking to tech companies for a while now, Ford working with Microsoft, and GM with Google to learn how to monetize their platforms. Hummer EV has an android based OS, and will have access to an App store, where the customer can purchase Apps to run on the infotainment, and I think part of that will be GM offering software updates to enhance performance, of the vehicle. WTF mode might cost $5K, which is basically free money to GM if someone wants their Hummer EV to accelerate 1 second faster 0-60. Maybe they offer 3 versions at different power levels and different prices? Think of it like chipping a Duramax diesel, but buying the chip over the air from GM. GM is hiring 3K software people now, and creating apps was in the description, so GM is going to get into the business of making apps for vehicles after they sell you the car, some apps likely will be free to download, others will cost $$. This is the way of the future, where your cars infotainment stays current throughout your ownership of the vehicle, this eliminates the status quo where you have state of the art infotainment on day 1, and obsolete the next day. Tesla has built a tremendous fan base by doing this, and created loyalty second to none. People believe their car gets better year after year because Tesla adds a fart app. Haha!I'm with you Tom, I have to believe that it's all software. I will say that this could get dicey...assuming that GM will allow an OTA update for WTF and the 200 extra horsepower, this could really anger the Edition One crowd, as they paid extra not only to be the first, but to have those added features.(WTF, the Extreme Off-Road Package, 1,000 hp, etc.)
Here's the spec sheet from GMC for reference...some things, like WTF mode and the Extreme Off-Road Package, appear (for now) to be exclusive only to the Edition One. Though don't forget, the slightly less extreme Adrenaline Mode is available across the range.

Official GM Preliminary Specs/Options Sheet - Great...
Here's the current options and specs compilation for the Hummer EV, for all models. This is bound to expand as more details are released, but for now, this is pretty handy for reference. Also...it seems like all Hummers have e4WD, with no RWD variant. The "X" in the trims seems to stand for...www.hummerchat.com
Hi there, I would consider letting go of my edition one reservation, feel free to reach outIf anyone has a change of heart on their Edition 1 reservation or has an extra reservation please contact me. Thank you.
Oh, you’ll be able to get white. It’s just unclear what’s going on from the info out so far. From the reservation page and other info tidbits we can’t tell if Edition 1 gets a special white color option or if Edition 1 only comes in white (that would also be weird). It'll be crazy if you can't order white. It's like second most popular color a car comes in
Have you talked to your local dealer? I hear they may be able to get you in if one of their customers cancels, but it would be an under the table, back door kind of deal that GM would frown on if they knew, so you will need to have a personal relationship with someone at the dealership. Some Ford dealers are doing this with early Mach E GT orders, if their customers does not go through with the order, the dealer orders the car on that customers reservation and then sells it to someone else at a markup. Shady F--- ing dealers... haha! Also looking for a 1st edition reservation for purchase, if you have one and maybe don't mind waiting, id be happy to pay for it. LMK
