I think HummerEV will launch next week

GM has been very quiet the last couple weeks on the HummerEV, not wanting to take attention away from the Lyriq Launch of reservations, but considering what @Aloppen posted on Facebook this AM, I think we are days away from start of production. We are highly likely to hear from GM next week leading into Motor Bella.

I hope so... I'm ready to get my order taken and have it around this fall.

The first customer deliverable Rivian just rolled off the line. I guess they win for first electric truck, unless we want to count the old electric S-10.

This is great, I am excited to see how Rivian does on deliveries and reliability, I ordered an R1S to replace our E-Tron, but just ordered last week, so might be waiting a while for delivery, as I have other friends that ordered years ago.

Ya, the R1T is too small, for much hauling, more of a lifestyle truck.

Kind of like a Honda Ridgeline.
I hope you are right about next week. I’m getting the itch to buy something new and it’s already going to be a little over a year before my 3x can be ordered. I usually keep cars about 2 years and I’m at that time already on my Rubicon. My buddy at my CDJR dealership has been pushing me to go for a TRX which looks like an awesome truck…but definitely a thirsty truck! I just need GM to put more stuff out to get me excited again they’ve been quiet for a while and my anxiousness is wearing off a little bit. I wanna start hearing some real world driving reviews from the media so they can say how awesome it is!

Well, the Rivian R1T is bigger then a Ridgeline, far more rugged, and extremely capable. Have to remember the Rivian is SAE certified to tow 11k LBS, and payload is 30% higher than the HummerEV. The limiting factor on Rivian is bed space, having only a 4' 6" long bed (6" shorter than HummerEV). Rivian also goes 0-60 in 3 seconds flat per motortrend tests. Motortrend described the size as in between the current Ranger and F150, which will be perfect for a lot of people who consider the Ranger too small and the F150 huge.

For the average half ton truck user the Rivian will suit all their needs, and lets not forget Rivian is launching the SUV version just 2 months behind the truck, I think Rivian nailed it, and their suspension and powertrain are best in class (per Motortrend), interior is top notch quality (no hard plastics or cheap switchgear) I think if Rivian can ramp production smoothly they will be the #2 Ev Seller in the USA in 2022.

Haha... you guys are like little kids... GM said Fall 2021, its not even Fall for another week and you are already getting antsy ;)

TRX is cool, but useless, and a cheaper Rivian will embarrass it in a drag race, or off road.

I was more referring to the lifestyle truck. The Rivian is far more capable for sure, but as you said it's a little small to do much. That's what I think when I see a Ridgeline, someone wanted a truck but didn't want to go full bore into a truck, just needed something to fit a modest outdoor life. I'm pumped Rivian got the first one knocked out as it's a win for the EV industry.

Ya, I still remember seeing the Ridgeline 1st gen, when it made its debut at the LA auto show, I walked in and they had it hitched to a 32' huge boat right inside the entrance, I noticed the boat had a 3 axle trailer, and was like hmmm. So you buy this crossover pickup with a V6, and tow this monster boat that would give a current gen HD pickup a serious challenge. Can you say false advertising?
