Hummer SUT touring appearances/schedule

I can’t seem to find the post today but last week I saw I pic from a gmc dealership in southern CA taking a peek at the hummer SUT.

seems majority of sightings have been in Michigan area which makes sense. Has anyone heard of any Hummer EVs makingtheir way across nation to the west coast? Hoping I can catch a glimpse in person especially if they make their way to the SF Bay are our northern CA

I have not seen anything yet, but have heard Hummer will for sure be displayed at Motor Bella, and I assume the Texas State Fair since GM often brings new truck models to the fair. Outside of that, I do not think they have enough of them to start touring around yet? I expect to hear about Media drives in the next couple weeks, and if GM holds to patterns they will be embargoed until just before the Texas State Fair, and Motor Bella. I am watching twitter, as someone is bound to leak they got a media drive invite .

Another possibility, GM has already publicly stated they will be doing HummerEV media and investor drives as part of investor day event Oct 6-7 (Barra mentioned on the last earnings call she was looking forward to this) I am sure GM will have some public launch (final specs, range, etc...) of the HummerEV before they tour it around to dealerships, or have us formalizing orders.

Hmm that’s a long haul to take the show truck across the nation for one showing. Curious why they chose this dealership for a first look and what other stops they were making on the trip. There had to be a series of places to stop at on the west coast!

@Smply_Jake would love to find out a little more on how/why y’all got to be one of the first dealers to check it out. Also would love to pick your brain on how to increase my chances of moving up the reservation list or claiming an un claimed first edition!

Getting really fed up with my dealership. I choose this one specifically because it’s where I have got my vehicles serviced the last 12 years but their sales department sucks! Both my wife and I have called on several occasions and never received calls back on top of that when I do get ahold of the “correct”person I get a generic we don’t have them yet no one does and end of conversation. They are not friendly nor willing to talk shop or make conversation.

I want to move my reservation to a different dealer but understand I need to cancel this one or make a new reservation at different dealer and may delaymy order (3x w/waitlist) does that mean I loose my spot in the total queue of hummers or back of the line at that dealership?

I have an email out to our GM rep to see what you can do. I can't find it on any of our resources so maybe he has an idea. I will let you know what I hear back.

That sounds like terrible customer service, The lack of small talk or the willingness to talk shop just shows that the sales people or person is not a genuine “car guy”. I would feel the same way as you but with that said, they know less than most of us here. I usually inform my dealer (of other brands) when a new vehicle is coming before they know.

That is sort of the response I got when I went by my dealership to talk to them... Granted, I popped in during the middle of the day and I was wearing my work clothes and probably didn't appear as if I would be able to afford one... They did seem to be busy, and the one guy that may have had an interest (he said that he had an EV3X reservation later in the brief conversation) was the busiest... Their 1st response to me when I asked about it was to go to the website and make a reservation... To, which I said that I had done that months ago... And, they were sort of the same way... "We don't have any and it's probably months away before we get our 1st one and that one will go to the owner of the dealership".... I probably would have chosen the other GMC dealer in my area, but they aren't even getting any (no listed as a Hummer dealer at this point). When I went by to talk to those guys, they had almost NO cars on their lot to sell and they said they were going to add Hummer until GM could fix their supply chain problems and get them some vehicles to sell... Now the other Dealership seemed to have plenty of cars on their lot... I know that my call is probably 14-18 months away, but I wanted to stop in and see if they had anything to offer... I did not spend much time there, but I did see an electric vehicle charging under the canopy at the front of building where they had cars displayed... But I didn't go look to see what it was... I guess that it was a Bolt...

I get the feeling you have an issue with unreasonable expectations. You have complained that GM is not sending monthly email updates to reservation holders (but they are keeping us in the loop through publicly released pictures, statements, and videos).

Now you are complaining about the dealer because they will not make small talk on the phone to you or your wife about a vehicle that does not exist, and they have no to limited information on? Why on earth are you and your wife already calling the dealership? You have a 3X reservation, which will not begin production for 12-18 months. GM is working now to finalize the ED 1 specs, I am sure they have not given the dealership anything on 3X. If I was the dealer, I would tell you, just as GM said in the reservation email, we will contact you when its time to finalize your order. I find at my dealership I have far more knowledge on the HummerEV and most of the other vehicles than they do, just by following online, this is always the way future vehicles are, there are very few dealership employees that take the time to follow vehicle development outside of their regular in dealership channels. @BigJonEV is a weirdo (kidding). You have to remember, buying the HummerEV is a big deal to you, and you are passionate about it, but at the dealership, it's just another day at work for those people, for the most part they do not share your passion.

@Tom E-Tron I will take being a weirdo!! haha.

My only suggestion is to try to understand our point of view. The guy you called has no vehicles on the lot and fielding 20 calls a day about vehicles he doesn't have 5 days a week for over 10 hours a day. GM has no idea when we will have them and these are our regular bread and butter vehicles we should have. I will admit it gets very frustrating and tiring saying the same thing over and over with truly no idea what is going on or when it will get better. All I want to do is help my clients and give them some sort of truthful info but right now that is practically impossible. Some people can deal with it and stay positive and some can't. Now, he gets a call about a vehicle that has never been produced and knows even less about it's arrival than any other vehicle he is expecting. It's hard to keep your head up and talk shop sometimes. Combine that with an electric vehicle where most salespeople have little to no clue about them which is why they are trying to get you to the "correct person" who might know half as much as we do it's a recipe for disaster.

I'm not making any excuses for that dealer, but I can assure you it's a situation none of us have ever been in and a huge shift for selling cars. I would hope they are at least trying their best even though the answers aren't always the greatest.

I totally get all the above. I’m simply trying to talk a a little shop and develop some sort of rapport and relationship with the dealership before I drop over 100k there. I understand we collectively have more info than that one person however, I’m being sent to the hummer EV concierge or whatever it’s called , the assigned dealership info person. I fully get realistically this is still a year+ out but there are a few things I’d like to talk about
1) has your dealership made the infrastructure updates to carry the hummer ev
2) do they anticipate any markup
3) any numbers on reservations they have there at that dealership, how many First editions/3x, I’ve talked to one dealership that said they expected 8 but had like 30 reserved. (If that’s even predictable at this point)
4) and any general info on the topic of this thread, maybe they have insight into the possibility of seeing it at some point if one was in CA in the last few weeks

are my expectations being unrealistic? Should I back off the dealership and just be patient? Am I just hungry for another hummer friend to talk to?

This whole issue is an expectations vs reality thing. Some people put down $100, and think their salesman should dedicated to them for the next 18 months while they wait for production to start for their model. I am not trying to pick on @Moneyshot89 , but man, lighten up dude, so far GM, and the dealers have done everything that was guided before we put down our deposit, and the fact you and your wife have called the dealer multiple times speaks more of your insecurity than their incompetence or arrogance. GMC has a concierge for the HummerEV that can typically answer questions except for specific content, prices, or dates which are not decided yet. GMC will make an announcement when they are ready to go (I think soon), and then the dealer will contact us to finalize our order, just like they said they would do when our reservations were placed. Right now GM is on time, or ahead of schedule with the program, so unless something changes, which is possible. Stop bugging your dealer, until they get the release of information and Edition 1 starts orders. That way you do not go crazy wanting information (or friendliness) that does not exist, and you do not drive the dealer crazy at the same time taking up their time on things they do not control.

All fair questions, and those can all be answered at the time you order... Between you and me... If you keep calling, your likelyhood of a markup increases with each call. In our industry we call it a "pain in the a$$ surcharge", and it happens every day. I would leave them alone until your number comes up, and then you can ask all the questions. I also recommend in person, not over the phone.
Points taken. I’m sure I’m overly enthusiastic and you guys are more knowledgeable than my local dealership on these topics. Only reason for multiple calls to dealership is because they go un returned. Trust I’m a very patient person and give the benefit of a doubt. Was just looking to build some communication and rapport. But I guess in this case I’m just looking to be liked by the stripper when it’s simply a cash transaction. Lol

Its all good... We are all very excited for our new trucks. GM and its dealerships could do more to pacify us for sure, but they are not required too, and I think when GM knows they are in the clear to start production they will make their announcement. and will loosen up on communications. I expect this will come before their investor event on October 6th and 7th, or immediately following.

Dump them ! Lack of any customer service when you are going to be dropping cash at dealership should be a top priority. If they are treating you this way now, just wait until you really need service on your vehicle. These are the dealerships that will FAIL. With the EV revolution coming, your customer service needs to be priority ONE, and those owners who don't get a handle on it, will wonder why the dealership went under and failed. Dealership owners need to be forward looking on where they want to be in 5, 10 years out; It is rather a simple concept: Great customer service + Great sales department + Great service department = Great REPEAT customers for generations. Get good people and pay them well.

Ya drop them, someone else can get your truck and will likely be less of a whiner.

I guess that’s the difference between the jaded salesman and the enthusiastic customer. I have no expectations from the dealership other than to return a call or at least ask if someone needs help after spending 30 minutes on the lot poking at cars, this has happened multiple times unrelated to the hummer in years past! I get it the hummer is gonna get sold regardless given demand but this is my first time dropping 6 figures on a vehicle which is kind of a big deal for my family. I’m not saying I need full service and attention on me but the level of professionalism at this particular dealership has been less than ideal for years. Notice I did not name drop nor am I trying to blast them. Simply the service level leaves a lot to be desired and was looking for advice on how to operate in such a scenario. Seems to me this has gotten a little to personal and I’m getting some feeling from past customers projected onto me. I get it cold calls can be annoying, if you can’t deal with it get out of customer service!!! Clear reason I never worked in customer service, people suck, some more than others 😉!

justify your responses however you see fit but it’s literally hard to be a whiner, complainer or shitty customer when I can’t even get passed the dude answering the main phone line to an actual salesman or knowledgeable staff. I was always taught communication is key and to always ask questions but I guess that has gone by the way side and I’m just supposed to STFU so sales people don’t have to deal with customers?!?
