Hey all,

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Thanks to a great find by @Tom E-Tron, the Detroit Free Press is reporting that GMC insiders have confirmed that the Hummer EV SUV will in fact officially debut this coming February. We also know that GMC bought another 30 seconds of air time (at least) for a Super Bowl commercial...will the commercial be used to unveil the Hummer SUT's little brother? Or will it simply showcase the new 2-model range?

Either way, should be interesting to see! Apparently the Hummer reveal/reveal commercial has been viewed over 370 million times across Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, Twitch, TV ads and other platforms. That's more than the Cybertruck, Bronco and Grand Wagoneer reveals...combined.

Wow, that is great news, I would expect they will make an Edition 1 of the SUV too, maybe available Mid 2022?

Even though I think GM blew the initial Hummer EV launch with that short video, that just kind of ended, they did get the word out with advertising, and the vehicle itself builds passion, people saw it, and wanted to learn about it. I would give GM a D on the initial reveal, but an A+ on the follow up, releasing many other videos with the engineers and designers. As an EV, and manufacturing nerd I love to hear from those insiders, and you can tell GM pulled out all the stops on the Hummer EV. I think the vehicle is as big of a winner as the C8 Corvette. Hummer EV is a game changer, that's why the Cybertruck fans have been so rabid coming after GM and the Hummer EV, Tesla got beat this time in cool factor and desirability. I mean the Cybertruck fans are even going after reviewers that say nice things about the Hummer EV... LOL.

Yea, I got one too, but it was slightly different... "Ongoing product announcements, like the newly available capability and performance upgrades." I am assuming capability/performance upgrades may refer to winches and the like all the better for offroad use, but maybe more street oriented tires for better ride and onroad traction and similar items for performance? Unless they can somehow sell you OTA upgrades to make it even faster. Unfortunately this is so vague it could mean almost anything, but it's fun to speculate sometime!

BTW: I am assuming the world's first reveal mention is the SUV version

I think it's going to show the SUV but also the commercial should show a real Hummer pickup prototype. Because remember the first reveal was just a computer generated Hummer.

SUV is expected to be revealed in the commercial itself, aired during the Super Bowl. This is exciting stuff.

I wonder if it will be an official debut, and taking reservations? or just a teaser? Lot's of big announcements coming up the next couple months in the industry. I am excited for the Hummer, and the Z-06 Corvette. I am also curious to see what Tesla has cooking with the Model S, production has now stopped, what is coming next? I hope it is more than 2170 batteries, and a Model 3 based interior like Electrek has been reporting.

From what I heard, it will be a similar format to the SUT reveal during the World Series...so a shortened commercial version of the full online reveal. I think they can get up to a full minute, last year, they just used a 30 second commercial for the initial teaser of Hummer's return.

I'm equally excited about this coming year in the industry! The Hummer SUV will be revealed (and the SUT will hit the assembly line), the C8 Z06 will be revealed, along with the Blackwing Cadillac sports sedans. The SIlverado/Sierra refreshes are also due out this year. Bronco will hit the road, and we might even see the new Cadillac Celestiq electric full-size high lux sedan. Big stuff!

I'm not as well versed on Tesla, but I have a friend who swears that an all-new Model S is going to be unveiled this year, based on a brand-new battery pack...she's a Tesla geek lol. And their interiors need a major overhaul, so I hope you're right.

GM is going to CES with "several upcoming EV's" Maybe see the Celestiq there? I am not sure how far the development is along for that car, the people who saw it in April said it is still a work in progress. Bronco will be cool, too bad its not an EV.

If I was a betting man, I would say the Tesla S is going to get the 2170 battery cells, and a spartan (but more upscale) interior like the 3 & Y, maybe door pockets, and other creature comforts that were missing? Maybe new headlights and taillights, but the real problem for me on the Model S is the back seat which is way too small for that size of sedan I do not think will get fixed.

For Tesla I'm sure there's going to be more news about the Cybertruck this year. Maybe something about the Roadster but that seems to be an afterthought at this point.

Ya, I expect Tesla to show the production Cybertruck soon... and rumors are swirling that they are building a few production intent semi's now, so I think we will see that before the roadster. Tesla owes several hundred free or highly discounted roadsters to people who participated in the referral programs, I think Tesla will be very slow to deliver on the roadster due to having to pay back these past promises which will cost Tesla $100M or more.
