Hummer EV Infotainment question

With GM going to fully digital instrumentation in the HummerEv @Aloppen can you tell us the design life of these components? The only reason I ask is because I read Tesla is lobbying to get these information screens and the computers that drive them to be considered a wear part which is only covered by the basic vehicle warranty, and have stated customers "should not expect longer then a 6 year life" from them. To me this is very important as these are expensive components and I think should be designed to last a reasonable life of the vehicle, at least 10 years half a million miles.

That's a really good question, @Tom E-Tron. Al hasn't signed onto the forum in 3 weeks, so I'm not sure he'll be responding to your tag. The more time goes by between visits, the more likely the tag/thread gets buried.

I've been thinking about trying to find a way to work with Al and the @Administrator to collect a number of member questions for Al to look through, so he can answer as many or as little as he likes. I know he's incredibly busy, but I thought maybe 9 or 10 questions would be worthwhile. Let me know if this is something we would want to pursue.

Since we know Al is busy, who knows if it'll ever gain traction, but it might be worth a shot. I may try going to Al directly off-site, and then getting the Big Boss on board afterwards to facilitate if I can get in touch with him...we'll see what happens.

Great question. I have been wondering about this regarding all EVs as I hope to drive my Hummer EV for the next decade as a daily driver.

I think we are about to see more of Al around here, as the dam is about to break with EV/Tech announcements.
