GMC's reveal campaign for the Hummer EV begins next week, with spots during Game 1 of the Major League Baseball World Series on Fox, "The Voice" on NBC and across streaming and social media platforms. The ads will give customers a closer look at the Hummer and allow them to reserve their vehicle, down to the trim level, for $100, said Phil Brook, vice president of GMC Marketing.

At 8 p.m. EDT Oct. 20, GMC will reveal the Hummer with the new ad, and reservations will open on GMC's website. Customers can choose from four trim levels, select their preferred dealer and make a $100 deposit to secure a reservation. GMC will detail trim options and pricing next week.

4 trims...I expected 3, a single-motor, RWD model, a dual-motor, AWD model, and a tri-motor, AWD model with 1,000 hp. Wonder if they'll infuse a little GMC brand heritage in there and split the tri-motor, AWD setup between a luxury-oriented Denali and an offroad-oriented AT4? That would give them 4 trim levels...I guess we'll see

I'm sure they're looking for news headlines saying there was X number of reservations. Lots of folks will have no problem just tossing in a reservation for $100, knowing it's easy enough to cancel later. I know the Cybertruck got up to some crazy numbers after the first few weeks. In either case, I'll jump in and see how it goes. ;)

Also, here is another source, without subscription:

I bet that some of the trim levels will be independent of number of motors and range (I think I remember them saying that they're trying to make options 'for everyone'). Probably one of the trims will be a launch edition, which is the one I'm hoping for :)

So I've discovered what the trims will be, but I only got the name of one.

I talked to my local GMC dealer, and he only gave me limited info, but it's worth sharing here. The three main trims will be basically what we thought:
  • Single motor, RWD
  • Dual motor, AWD
  • Tri-motor, AWD
And there will be one extra...the Hummer EV Edition ONE. It will be available in limited numbers, will be fully loaded, and will only come one way: one interior color and one exterior color that will both ONLY be available on the Edition ONE.

Great info @StillHummer !

It's going to be very interesting to see how competitively this is priced against the competition. Specifically, the Tesla Cybertruck is $40k, $50k, and $70k for single, dual, and tri motor setups, so anything exceptionally outside of that price range is going to hurt HummerEV adoption rate.

(I think the CT is hideous for what it's worth, but it's currently Hummers main competition for better or worse)

I agree 100%. Pricing will be everything. I don't know if they'll be able to start at $40k, but if they can start at $50k...they could move a TON of units. I'm also with you on the "CyberThing" lol, I think it looks awful...but I think that works to the Hummer's advantage. Back in the old days, the Hummers were at the extreme end in styling, which made them easy for the haters to go after. But now, the Cybertruck is SO far beyond that, that even though the Hummer EV will likely share a very close look to it's predecessors...the Cybertruck will make it look almost mainstream. That should help people get on board, say nothing of all its features!

A 200KWh battery that yields 400 mile range will probably cost GM at least $30K to manufacture. Three motors will probably cost as much as a traditional engine and transmission. I can't see the Hummer EV priced below the Tesla model X, but I hope it will. I also hope the Edition One™ will be burgundy over tan interior like 1980's Cutlass supreme and not silver/black euro colors.

This ad campaign is going to be much of the public's first time hearing that the Hummer brand has pivoted to EVs. I'm curious to see what people's reactions will be.
