GMC Hummer EV Dealer Markup

Even though GM and GMC have said there won't be any markups on the Hummers I guess it won't stop dealers from trying to jack up the price on customers...I really hope this doesn't start happening with more dealers.

I call BS.... GMC has the dealers in a noose, markup the Hummer, get no more Hummers. Escalade markup is fine, but Hummer is under a specific sales agreement with the dealers. Dealers can mark Hummer up by law, but I am not sure which dealer would risk the relationship damage with GM, as any dealer carrying the Hummers has made an investment to carry them.

GM has said that the customer can change the dealer of choice at any time during the sales process. Just contact GM at the number indicated on your reservation receipt.

That is me and here is the latest: I believe you saw my post about ADM. I just got off the phone with the Hummer EV concierge and she stated they WILL NOT RESTRICT DEALERS from marking them up. Looks like they can do whatever they want. I asked about the article and the comments to the shareholders about MSRP and she stated that since the dealers are independently owned, they get MSRP and they can do what they want.

You cannot change dealerships. You can create a new reservation but you are at the back of the line.

Of course, by law GM cannot make the franchise dealership comply, however GM has other levers to pull, and like Ford has done recently with Mach E, the executive branch is not afraid to publicly call out dealers taking advantage of the customers. If my dealer tries to mark up my Hummer by $.01, I will make a lot of trouble for them, even though a $5K or $10K markup is not material to me financially, It will piss me off. My dealership told me they are selling the Hummers at MSRP as strongly suggested by GM, we will see when the time comes to plop down the money if that holds true. We have a fleet of GMC vehicles in my company that we buy and service at the same dealership, so I am sure they will not screw with me, but I will be just as upset is they screw with other Hummer reservation holders.

Not true. I just talked to the concierge and they said they would link the reservation #’s together so you don’t loose your place in line.
Here's the latest round of insanely marked up Hummers

Prostitution of the Hummer. Not me, but this is America and they have the right to do as they please with their property.

If people stopped paying the prices the markup would stop, I blame both the buyers and sellers for the situation. This is free market in action...
