GM has a SERIOUS problem with dealerships markups on EV's

GM has stated publicly and privately that they are working with dealers to sell EV's at MSRP consistently. I decided to call around on the Lyriq, I called 5 Cadillac dealerships (in 2 states), and not one of them would agree let me reserve a Lyriq at MSRP price. All of them wanted to mark it up or add packages of goods and services I do not need for an extra $5K to $10K. This is a serious problem for GM, and will bite them hard when these cars start deliveries and people realize they are being hit for an extra 5-10K. This is a threat to Cadillac's future as a brand, as if the EV launch goes poorly Cadillac has no future. GM must rein in their dealers, or risk public relations problems they never imagined. @BigJonEV are you guys marking up the Lyriq?

We are not marking up the Lyriq at all. It will be the MSRP of how you order it. We are in this for the long haul and made a decision on any of our vehicles to not charge over sticker, including Yukons, Escalades, Hummers, Lyriqs, etc..
Big John,

What dealership are you with?

Thanks BigJon, it's good to know we have some options even if we have to travel to pick up the vehicle. I posted on the Caddy forum about a Lyriq at MSRP and another dealer got back to me as well saying no games, no mark up, etc so there are a few out there. I believe he was in Indiana. I want to place an order for the Lyriq so I will give you a call.

I pre-ordered the R1T with the full intent to keep it and it was delivered in March. Last year I decided I was not going to keep it due to the reduced range towing since I tow quite a bit but due to the market, I didn't cancel my order. I took delivery to check out the fit and finish and to try it out for a month as my wife wanted the SUV so we ordered that in December. The Rivian was great but my wife is used to a more luxury oriented vehicle so we started looking at other EV SUV's as the Rivian sold me on the EV thing. The BMW IX and the Lyriq both fit the bill. She has a BMW now and I am not a huge fan so I would prefer the Lyriq so I want to get a pre-order in next week when they are available. I sent emails to four dealers here in SoCal and told them I wanted to order but only if they would do it at MSRP. Only one called me back and once I asked about MSRP, they said there would be ADM. Looks like I will have to travel out of state to pick up the Lyriq or have it delivered. Both are much better and less expensive options then paying additional mark up in my opinion.

Send me a message when you are ready to go. We are supposed to be getting a lot more info May 19th and be able to place more orders.

Sounds good. I will shoot you a message next week when I am back in town. We would like to get the order in on the 19th if possible just to try and get delivery as quick as possible. I assume you don't have any info yet as far as trim levels, etc, correct? The on line portal doesn't give any options or build packages that I see as of yet.

From what I'm seeing there are a few more color options and then there will be an AWD option available. I don't believe there will any trim levels just picking the drivetrain.

I think Lyriq only comes loaded.... Initially. RWD $63K AWD $73K-75K is what I am hearing.

That's more info then I had before so thank you. The wife will be happy there are a few more color choices as she was not smitten with the two shown on the website.
