There was a reason that GMC chose October 20th as the reveal date of the Hummer...that's because they have purchased commercial airtime to air a short film showcasing the reborn Hummer that night during Game 1 of the 2020 World Series. They've also purchased airtime to air the same video during the first episode of the new season of NBC's "The Voice" that same night.
There will be additional platforms beyond the World Series and The Voice showing these short films that will be disclosed at a later date. The full reveal event will take place on GMC's YouTube page at 8pm.
“We cannot wait to finally reveal the GMC HUMMER EV. We are leaving no stone unturned on reveal day," said Phil Brook, vice president of GMC marketing in a statement. "In terms of audience reach, we anticipate this will be one of the brand’s most ambitious stand-alone campaigns ever."
It's also worth noting that the short film will be aired across numerous commercial breaks of the World Series and The Voice, i.e. it won't just be one video, but a sequence of short ads that link together as the night goes on.
What started during the Super Bowl will end up in the World Series...this is incredible! The viewing audience has now expanded by tens of millions outside the people who were already going to watch the reveal online. This is a MASSIVE advertising effort.
