Ford has announced that they will be launching the F-150 Lightning on April 26.
Ford desperately trying to distract from their shrinking pickup marketshare, and what are expected to be awful Q1 earnings. Interesting that they chose the same day as GM earnings for their launch.Ford has announced that they will be launching the F-150 Lightning on April 26.
Ya, I think the lightning is OK, but quite compromised as an EV, low range, weak charging, and the way they packaged the rear drive unit, its lower then a typical F150 rear differential, going to drag on everything.I like the Lightning, but still strongly believe that the Silverado EV will be the better overall truck...once it hits the streets.
The Lightning will still sell extremely well as it is the first "normal" EV Pickup truck. The Rivian and Hummer are not "normal". I have quite a few friends who are interested in a "normal" truck that isn't as flashy and have preorders for the lightning. I think the Lightning is boring (which is why I'm here!) but a lot of people don't want something so flashy and expensive.I like the Lightning, but still strongly believe that the Silverado EV will be the better overall truck...once it hits the streets.
Agree, Lightning will sell all Ford can make (Nearly All EV's do) but it is boring, and the engineering was compromised to cut cost using Ford's existing cab and bed which deliver far less value to the customer than a clean sheet design like the Silverado E or Rivian R1T.The Lightning will still sell extremely well as it is the first "normal" EV Pickup truck. I do agree that the F-150 EV marketshare will drastically shrink when the Silverado EV starts delivery and whatever flashy vaporware product Stellantis cooks up, too...
I stared at the cybertruck for many hours just begging my brain to find it in any way appealing. Just like it please, the numbers are great. But, I couldn’t, I have no idea why they had to make it look like that. Just make a regular looking truck. I’m guessing none of us would really know who Elon Musk was if he designed the first roadster and model S like the cybertruck.Isn't it amazing how the Cybertruck has been totally forgotten in all legitimate EV pickup discussion? As it should be.
I was really hoping for the April Fools reveal of the real Tesla pickup this year. Maybe it wasn't ready yet. 2023?Isn't it amazing how the Cybertruck has been totally forgotten in all legitimate EV pickup discussion? As it should be.
Auto Forecast Solutions says Cybertruck will start production in October 2023.I was really hoping for the April Fools reveal of the real Tesla pickup this year. Maybe it wasn't ready yet. 2023?
Cybertruck will not come as advertised, that's one thing you can count on. It will either be much more expensive of have far less capability. Here is what I expect...I stared at the cybertruck for many hours just begging my brain to find it in any way appealing. Just like it please, the numbers are great. F150 lightning is nonsense EVs have to be purpose built from the ground up in the words of the great Musk. Silverado EV is going to be awesome and I’m assuming the Sierra will be even better.
... the panel gaps meet spec.Musk will come out and say...
Aligning the panels on the Cybertruck will be tricky, heavy stainless does not behave like sheet metal, and then the discoloration around the welds, etc will be interesting.... the panel gaps meet spec.
