EV2 vs. EV2x

Hi all,

Looking for some advice on reservations. I recently cancelled my pick-up reservation and reserved the SUV EV2. I chose the EV2 initially because I likely will not use it for off-roading all that frequently and the EV2 has most of the features I’m looking for standard. However, I do expect to add the transparent roof (not standard on EV2x either) and may consider the 800 volt charger capability, which makes me wonder whether I’m better off reserving the EV2x for all the additional standard features.

What do folks think the optional features might cost? I’m having a hard time comparing costs of the two versions because of the lack of information out there, and while the EV2x seems like more bang for your buck, it also seems like the cost could add up quickly once you add optional features, taxes, etc. and I’m not sure the crab walk, for example, is something I’ll use enough to justify the difference in price.

Appreciate any thoughts folks have and if the obvious answer is reserve both and figure it out later, would be curious if that’s an approach others are taking.

4 wheel steering on the EV 2x will give you a turning radius of 35’ vs 44’ on the Ev2. That alone is a big issue. Both #’s are rounded down {for the critics}.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by big issue? Is that just a benefit of the EV2x or are you saying there is an issue with the EV2 turning radius?

It would be a big issue for me. I have a Chevy Bolt and the four wheel steering on the 2x would equal that of the Bolt. Amazing.

Got it, thanks. I have a Grand Cherokee which, from a quick search, has a turning radius of 37.1. Not sure I have a sense of how big a difference that is with 44’ on the EV2, but that does seem significant.
Someone will make this link easier. Sorry
Thanks! Those videos are definitely helpful.

Anyone have any guesses on pricing for optional features, such as the transparent sky panels and upgraded battery capabilities? Not sure there are any real comparable at this point.
Hey @Msv5010,

GMC has been EXTREMELY quiet on the pricing for optional features and packages, and it's a total mystery when that'll start to change. For me personally, the added range of the 2X standard plus 4 wheel steer would be enough to justify going that route right out of the gate. Something tells me optioning up an EV2 to 2X levels of equipment will not only potentially make it more pricey, but could mean you'd have to wait longer for delivery.

Thanks StillHummer. That's generally what I was thinking.

My main concern is whether the transparent sky panels, which seem like a must but are not standard on either, are going to add significant cost to the 2x. All things considered, the 2x feels like more bang for your buck with all the off-roading features and four wheel steering, but I'm hesitant to raise the bill even further by adding options to the 2x, which would be necessary for the transparent sky panels. Then again, if I pay the same price for the EV2 with transparent sky panels and upgraded battery capabilities as I would for the 2x with all of the other added features standard on the 2x, I may be kicking myself later. Seems like that may be GMC's intent with the pricing model (i.e., make it feel necessary for customers to buy the higher models).

Hard to make a reservation without all the details but I guess the fact that they are small deposits and refundable helps justify the lack of information. I'll probably add a reservation for the 2x and figure out whether I can justify the final price tag later.

Thanks again!
