Just got a call from the Dealer in Palm Beach. They are holding my truck for over two week. They need it for promotion, Yada …..Yada…..Yada. It is the first one the lot for this dealership. Seems excessive to me. I could stand a week after two years. My tolerance to dealers is minima. They did agree to MRSP after my threat to change dealership. Should I cut them some slack or pitch another fit.

Thanks

2 weeks for promotion? What? Mine was at the dealer for about 10 days, they had to wait for parts, but no promotion

“F” that!!!! Was that after he promised you MSRP?
I don’t want to victim blame but you have been on this site for almost a year. Did you not get it in writing before completing the verification process?
No I did not get anything in writing. After threatening to move my reservation to another dealership I received a verbal agreement to MSRP. I was unaware that when they called me, To see if I still wanted the truck, that was my verification. Heading to the dealership today. I will update later this evening.

I should be happy but I am filled with apprehension.
This is their first EV1.

About to say, GM has been pretty firm with dealers about trying to play games with market adjustments. Some are getting around it by "selling" the car first and then reselling for insane markups but if you have a reservation, GM has basically guaranteed you'll be buying it for the stated price at the time of your reservation.

GM is pressuring the dealers, but ultimately cannot stop them from marking a car up by law. A dealer though marking up a Hummer by 50K, GM is likely to take immediate action, so best to threaten the dealer first, then if they refuse to sell at MSRP, start hounding GM executives on Twitter, they will take action.

Thats standard. Our first hummer was here for almost 2 weeks per GM. A few GM reps will come down and show salesmen how present the car and go over all features. It will sit in the show room under a cover for a little bit then they make a big presentation with GM rep then going over your vehicle with you. Once we get the first one done we can just ship them out like normal other than the salesman has to spend extra time with the customer on delivery going over everything.
Basically let the dealership do their thing. Dont rush the tech doing the accessories, hes losing his ass spending 30 hours to get paid 7 as the instructions are terrible. Dont rush the salesman that are trying their best to learn a whole new vehicle. Its GM that sets the delay, not the dealership.

Yes. The general manager of the dealer assured me that it will be sold to me at MSRP before I verified my order.
The same general manager is now asking for 50k over. He ended the conversation by saying that he will “talk to the owners” and see what can be done. I threatened to contact General Motors and complain, but not sure if they can do anything.
I tried calling and emailing the general manager of the dealer 2 days later, with no answer or response.
It looks like I won’t be getting this truck…or any other GM product from this point forward.
As long as GM has these shady dealers selling their products, they will never be able to compete with the likes of Tesla and Rivian.

Sorry to hear about your experience, but not all dealers are this way, and my HummerEV buying process was smooth, dealer support has been great, so it is hit and miss.

I read somewhere that you had been planning to flip the truck, maybe better for you to negotiate the best you can, and buy the truck, then flip it and get whatever profit you can? Better to make some money than no money from the experience, right?

I have no plans to flip it for profit. 100k in profit is enticing, but I would rather just enjoy it for a few years and then trade it for the next new and exciting vehicle.
i just sent an email to some GM executives. I’ll let you know how this ends.
good luck, definitely sucks. I’d personally be a thorn in their sides a long time but I can really hold a grudge and go out of my way to make a point of seeing if I can help someplace like that lose business >= what they stole.
