CarGurus Says Consumer Interest In GMC Hummer EV Not As Strong As Tesla Cybertruck

CarGurus released their 2021 Electric Vehicle Sentiment Survey and in it they asked 1,097 automobile owners in the U.S. about their thoughts toward electric vehicles and certain new EV makes and models.

When asked about electric Pickup trucks they asked consumers if they'd consider either the F-150 EV, Cybertruck, or Hummer EV. Based on the results more people are interested in the Cybertruck, then the F-150, and lastly the Hummer EV.

I wonder if it's because of the Hummer's price?

Tesla has built a whole lot more EVs than GM. Also, the Cyber Truck offers a longer bed. Personally still not interested, but these details might be part of the appeal.

That's true as well. The fanbase around Tesla is rabid. I guess the same for the F-150 too.

Also, the Hummer has been designed and marketed towards a VERY particular audience...as is evident by it's extreme capability and high price. They don't need nor want everyone to consider one, because that isn't the Hummer's mission. It's a high-cost, high-power, high-capability flagship for GMC. The Tesla and the Ford are being geared much more towards the mass market.

It's also likely true that most people had no clue Ford was coming out with an EV F-150. It doesn't matter, though...if they hear "electric F-150," they immediately think of the immense popularity of the ICE F-150, and associate the EV version with that. Same is probably true with the Tesla, but to a much lesser extent. I'd bet that most respondents had heard of the Hummer, but the least wanted it...and GMC should be perfectly fine with that.

The Hummer looks WAY better than the Cybertruck... But Tesla fans are what they are... I do wish that the Hummer had a longer bed... But it's features and styling will win in Spades... Also, I wonder how many people were even informed enough to actually know about them

Yeah it would be good if the bed was longer but then it starts to creep into the Silverado EV territory which GM won't want.

Longer bed reduces off-road capability.

Not to mention the volume leaders are short bed models, which are only slightly longer than Hummer EV. The Silv E Rado EV will have a shorter front overhang, and longer bed, I think. No need for the giant Frunk sized specifically to carry the roof panels on the Chevy.
