What do you guys think? Will GM offer an extended baterry warranty? Id asume 3 years 36k miles on the truck itself. Our Lexus hybrid has a 10 year warranty on the battery. I asked why, and the dealer told me so many people were scared of battery replacement that they put a big warranty on them to get people to buy them. If this new battery GM is using only has the basic GM warranty, Im kinda concerned on how long it will last and how much is battery replacement?

I don't know about the extended warranty part @jghvette, but I'd be willing to bet big money that the standard warranty is going to be pretty substantial. Tesla Models S and X offer Battery warranties of 8 years or 150,000 miles (whichever comes first), and the tech in those batteries isn't brand new. With GM recently saying that they were closing in on million-mile battery tech for their Ultium system, I'd expect a standard warranty of AT LEAST what Tesla has, and likely more. Minimum 10 years, 150,000 miles is my guess, but probably longer on both counts.

Any extended warranty will likely push it even beyond that. Car batteries are being engineered in a way that the battery will likely long outlast the vehicle itself.

I hope so! Very excited about Hummers return. Wanted an H2 for many years and when I finally was able to afford one they stoppped making them. Cant wait to see this truck at a dealer and the day the dealer calls me to come in for the order.

I think it will be 8 years 100K miles warranty on the battery. I will be curious to see if they warranty 80% or 70% battery life? Past GM BEV batteries hold up well.
