I think that’s when the dealers are keeping them and then selling for the high margin they aren’t passing it along to the next reservation holder.
Ya, many dealers are greedy, and the General Manager gets their bonus on margins, so of course they want to stretch margins as far as possible.
I contacted the owner of a local Cadillac Dealer to discus with her my ordering experience on the Lyriq, I totally caught her off guard, she had no idea what the General Manager was doing on Lyriq pre orders, and assured me she will look into it. She was aware GM wants the EV's sold at MSRP, and plans to comply, but her greedy General Manager trying to get a bigger bonus was behind the markups. I think this is true at most dealerships, the owners let the General Manager run the store, and do not see the day to day operational stuff, owners are more looking at the spreadsheets and profitability, so when a dealer tries to mark up a car, especially EV, the customers should contact the dealership owner first. The internal staff will try to isolate the owner, so you often have to use tax records and google to find them. It took me 15 minutes to find all the information on our local Cadillac dealership owner, and contact her.
